October 2, 2019Points You Need to Remember at the Time of Canopy Installation

If you have outdoor storage or a sunroom then to protect from sun rays you might be planning to install a canopy to provide shade from its top. The installation of an outdoor canopy can be as easy and straight forward as choosing the type of canopy you want for this purpose. You can follow the instructions provided with the canopy to set it up. The easiest and the best way to install a shade canopy is to install it in a free-standing position so that you can use it as an umbrella to open and close it whenever required.
However, it can be challenging for you if you want to install a canopy on your own, even if you do not have any technical knowledge in this regard. Whether you are planning to install a fixed canopy or a free-standing canopy, at the time of its installation there are certain points which you should remember. These points may include:
Purchase of materials required for installation: In order to install a canopy you may need some other materials along with a quality canopy. These materials may include wood along with other hardware items which you will have to purchase to complete the project of installing a canopy. You can purchase these materials from a nearby home improvement center to your home.
Woodworking tools: While installing a canopy you will need various types of woodworking tools like a drill to make holes, measuring tape to measure length, a nail gun to nail boards, saw to remove an excessive piece of wood and an adjustable wrench to pull the bolts.
Connect header board: While attaching the header board to the back of your home you will need a drill to make holes in the header board. The board should be long enough to cover the length of the space to be covered by the canopy. You can also use an additional header board of 2’ x 4’ size if required. Now you will have to use a drill to make holes into the wall to fix studs to attach the header board to it. For that purpose, you will have to mark the position of the holes in the back wall. Now to stud the board on the wall you will need a saw to remove the siding of the board. You will also need an adjustable wrench and a bolt to attach a header beam to the header board.
Dig holes to set posts and beams of 4 x 4 size: While installing a canopy you should also keep in mind to dig to holes in the ground along the side of the wall where the beam is attached. Now you have to set the posts in the ground where you have dug two holes. You can use quick setting cement and water to fill these holes after setting posts in them. You should also remember to check the level of the posts installed by you by using a leveling device as a proper setting of the poles is necessary for installing a canopy properly. After the concrete sets and hardens you will have to attach a beam across the posts you have installed in the ground.
Connect the rafter boards: Now you have to attach rafter boards between the headers of the frame of the canopy by using a nail gun. These rafter boards should be placed 6-12inch away from each other. You can easily attach the trap of the canopy to its frame if the rafter boards are placed and attached safely to the header board.
Join the canopy: Now you can complete the project of installation of a canopy just by running the trap of the canopy over the top of the frame you have created. After setting up the canopy trap over the frame you can use a nail gun to fasten the trap to its place so that the canopy can remain in its position to provide enough shelter in your outdoor space.
Thus, by remembering some of the points at the time of installation of a canopy, discussed in this write-up, you can easily complete the project. However, you should follow these points carefully as any negligence can affect the proper installation of the canopy.
